About Sheila

Reflecting Nature:  Colour And Texture

Sheila has always had a passion for painting and drawing wildlife, landscapes, flowers and songbirds in oil, watercolour, coloured pencil and scratchboard. Her entries in juried art shows such as the Saskatchewan Wildlife Art Show and the Saskatoon Prairieland Exhibition Fine Art competitions have placed well, with many pieces earning first and second place showings.

Mural Mosaic

This is a panel that Sheila painted for the  “Buffalo Twins” mural mosaic –- a mural created by several artists for the Saskatchewan/Alberta centennial. This mural is on permanent display in Lloydminster, Alberta.

Turning the Tide

This is Sheila’s art quilt, a contribution to a traveling fibre art exhibit and charity auction in support of the Stephen Lewis Foundation. Her theme is “One future at a time”.  ”The children, sitting on a log by Nakadoli Market appear to me as if they are contemplating their futures…and perhaps also enjoying a few minutes together to laugh, share, and play.  The children are from the village of Chimwemwe, which is near Kitwe, Zambia”.  This work was inspired by a photograph taken by N. Duncan.

Sheila also enjoys designing and sewing quilts as gifts for her friends and family.   She volunteers to sew for Serendipity, a group of women volunteers who meet to construct quilts for local charities.
